Nail Surgery
Nail surgery is a particularly effective treatment for painful and/or unsightly toenails. It is most commonly performed for the treatment of ingrown toenails. It is a routine minor procedure, undertaken with local anesthetic to numb the toe. It involves the removal of all, or just part of the toenail. As a local anaesthetic is used, you will feel no pain during the procedure. Once the toenail (or part of the toenail) has been removed, a chemical called Phenol is usually applied to the exposed nail bed in order to prevent regrowth of the nail by destroying the nail cells.
